Two sites we built to show the range
Neither of these businesses exists. We have no client work to show yet and we are not going to pretend otherwise, so we built the samples ourselves. Every page carries a banner saying so.
The builds
Thornbury Plumbing & Drain
A trades site that gets somebody to a phone number fast. Blue led and set in Archivo, with credentials up front and hand-drawn blueprint diagrams instead of stock photography.
Shows we will build restrained and conventional when that is what the customer needs.
Vessel Skin Studio
An aesthetics studio at the other end of the range. Blush and coral, a display serif, layered gradients and treatment cards rather than a price list.
Shows the same technical standard applied to a completely different look.
Both hit the same bar
The demos are the argument, so a slow demo would refute it. Both are held to the standard this site is held to, and both were measured rather than assumed.
Each loads a single webfont from its own domain. The med spa needs the serif for headings only, so it is subset to the sixty seven characters it renders and costs twelve kilobytes. The plumbing site sets everything in Archivo, so it needs the full character set and costs thirty five.
